Dec 6, 2012: HEPATITIS C VIRUS ( HCV ) is an increasing cause of morbity and mortality in the United States. Many of the 2.7-3.9 million persons living with HCV infection are unaware they are infected and do not receive care(e.g., education, counseling, and medical monitoring) and treatment according to CDC. CDC also estimates that although persons born duing 1945-1965 comprise an estimated 27 % of the population, they account for approximately three fourths of all HCV infections in the United States, 73% of HCV-associated mortality , they are at greater risk for liver cancer and other HCV-related liver disease.

CDC recommends testing of adults of all ages especially adults born during 1945-1965 period and persons identified as positive for HCV should receive a brief alcohol screening followed by referral to appropriate care and treatment services for HCV ifection and related condition. As your partner in patient care, HCV screening test is available at MTS CLINICAL LABORATORY. For detailed information contact MTS Clinical Laboratory at (818) 901-9001.
